January 16, 2013, at approximately 3:12 P.M., the Pulaski Police Department responded to Meadowview Apartments on Lee Highway regarding a tip indicating that there was an active methamphetamine lab inside of an automobile. Officers, with the assistance of the Claytor Lake Drug Task Force and the Virginia State Police secured the area surrounding the suspected vehicle. During the ensuing investigation, police personnel obtained search warrants for the vehicle and for an apartment whose residents were associated with it.
The subsequent searches resulted in the recovery of a mobile methamphetamine laboratory and related substances and equipment.
Suspects arrested at the site of the investigation:
Michael A. Edwards, 39 YOA, of Pulaski, Virginia
Johnny D. Worrell, 20 YOA, of Pulaski, Virginia
Both suspects were charged alleging offenses involving:
Manufacturing less than 227 grams of mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine in violation of 18.2-248.03.
- Conspiracy to possess methamphetamine in violation of 18.2-256.
- Possession of precursors to manufacture methamphetamine in violation of 18.2-248.
The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
