In November 2007, Town Council amended Chapter 50 of the Code of Ordinances of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia allowing owners of real property to designate the Police to enforce trespassing violations.
Article VI. Section 50-170 Designation of Police to Enforce Trespass Violations (Ordinance 2007-26)
(a) The owner of real property in the Town of Pulaski, Virginia may designate the Pulaski Police Department as a "person lawfully in charge of the property" for the purpose of forbidding another to go on or remain upon the lands, buildings, or premises of the owner as specified in the designation.
(b) Any such designation shall be in writing on a form prescribed by the Pulaski Police Department and must be on file with the Pulaski Police Department.
(c) In the event of the sale, or change in ownership or title to properties designated under this section, the Pulaski Police Department shall be notified of such change in writing within seven (7) days of the transfer of ownership or title to the property.
This ordinance was adopted November 6, 2007.
The Police Department is an authorized agent per this ordinance for several properties within town.
